Chichén Itzá, Valladolid & Cenote Day Trip
Description
Embark on a memorable day trip from Tulum where you will explore Chichén Itzá, visit Valladolid, and have the chance to swim in a cenote believed to be sacred by the Mayans. With a maximum of 10 participants in your group, the experience remains intimate and personal.
Trip Overview
Are you ready to explore one of the Seven Wonders of the World? Starting with your hotel pickup in Tulum, we will embark on a scenic 2 hour and 15-minute drive, covering 150 km (93 mi) through the enchanting jungles of the Yucatán Peninsula.
Upon reaching the ancient site of Chichén Itzá, we’ll initiate a guided tour that will last between 2 to 3 hours. During this period, we will uncover the esteemed temples that define the site, including the renowned Temple of Kukulkán, also known as El Castillo. Here, you will discover the astrological insights embedded within its structure and how the ancient Maya accurately determined the solstices.
Further along, we will explore the largest Mayan ball court in the region, where echoes of the past resonate against the stone walls, and we’ll visit the Temple of the Warriors, where impressive columns adorned with expressive reliefs stand guard.
After our exploration, we will proceed to the charming colonial town of Valladolid, just a 45-minute drive from the ancient city. There, we will have lunch at El Mesón del Marqués, a historical venue that radiates traditional elegance. Over the course of an hour, you will savor an artisanal Yucatecan dish crafted from fresh local ingredients.
With your hunger satisfied, you’ll have between 30 to 60 minutes of free time to wander the captivating historic center of Valladolid. Be sure to snap some photographs at the Church of San Servacio or at the Plaza de la Cultura, adorned with colorful buildings and archways.
To conclude our journey on a tranquil note, we will travel for 20 minutes to a secluded Mayan cenote nestled in the jungle. Here, you will have the opportunity to take a refreshing swim in its clear, cool waters, embracing the serene beauty of this sacred site.
After enjoying 1 to 1.5 hours at the cenote, we will begin our drive back to Tulum, ensuring you are returned to your hotel at the end of an unforgettable 11 to 12 hour adventure.
