Hiking Tour to Albino's Eye Glacier
Your day begins with a pickup at 8:30 am from your hotel in Ushuaia, followed by a drive north along National Route 3.
After approximately 30 minutes of travel through the breathtaking Fuegian valleys, we will stop at the 20-kilometre mark on the road. Here, we will commence a 5-kilometre hike (3 miles) that leads us through the valleys of Tierra Mayor and alongside the Esmeralda River.
This segment of the hike lasts around two hours, taking you through untouched Fuegian forests and stunning white mountain landscapes adorned with glaciers. By 10 am, we will reach the picturesque Esmeralda lagoon, where we will transition onto the trekking path leading to the Albino's Eye Glacier.
The initial stage of this trek will consume about 60 minutes. As we advance into the glacial terrain, magnificent ice formations will start to come into view. At the 7-kilometre point (4.3 miles), we'll pause for a picnic lunch featuring a sandwich, a traditional South American alfajor, and a cereal bar.
Following our lunch break, we will enjoy a warm drink, choosing from tea, coffee, or traditional mate cocido. We will then resume our hike towards the Albino's Eye Glacier, which includes a final section of 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) comprising a 1200-metre (3937 feet) ascent to the glacier.
Our adventure concludes with a return to the hike’s starting point by 3 pm. From there, we will travel back to your hotel in Ushuaia, arriving at approximately 8:30 pm.
