End of The World Train Tickets + Audio Guide
Description
On board the End of the World Train, you will follow the historic route taken by the prisoners in Ushuaia prison. This journey crosses the valley of the Pipo River and leads you to the Tierra del Fuego National Park. An audio guide in English will provide interesting facts throughout the ride.
A Bit of History
At the world's edge, where southern winds whisper stories, the End of the World Train was constructed in the early 20th century. This railway became the essential link between the Ushuaia prison and the forests of Mount Susana, transporting both prisoners and the materials they collected through harsh labor.
Known as the Southern Fuegian Railway, it stretched up to 25 km (15.5 mi) into the woods, crossing local rivers, including the Pipo. However, the prison closed in 1947, and a devastating earthquake two years later led to the railway's closure in 1952.
Nearly forty years later, in 1994, the End of the World Train was revitalized as a scenic experience, reviving part of the original route of the prisoners. Today, it journeys through Tierra del Fuego National Park, bringing its rich past to life with every curve and whistle.
