Activity Overview

Your adventure begins with a convenient pickup from your accommodation in Ushuaia, setting out towards the iconic Escondido Lake. The journey follows Ruta Nacional 3, where we will traverse the breathtaking valley of Tierra del Fuego and the mighty Andes through the famous Paso Garibaldi.

Upon arrival, we’ll stop at a gaucho shelter located by Escondido Lake, our launch point for a delightful hour of horseback riding. Each participant will be matched with a suitable Creole horse, and after securing the saddles, we will embark on our journey. Let’s ride!

Throughout the 1, 2, or 3-hour horseback ride, based on your selected option, we will explore the Fuegian subantarctic forest, discovering the unique botanical life that thrives in this region. We will also make our way to the shores of Escondido Lake, allowing the horses to hydrate while we take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding forests, valleys, and peaks.

Concluding our ride, we will return to the refuge, where a tasty snack awaits, featuring a delightful dessert and a warm beverage.

We will then commence our journey back to Ushuaia, where we will part ways after an exhilarating experience lasting between 4 to 7 hours, depending on the duration of the ride you opted for.

Argentine Barbecue

If you wish, during the booking process you can select an option that provides an Argentine barbecue following the horseback adventure, offering a true taste of local culture!

Expect a menu that includes a picada of cured meats and cheeses, chorizos, grilled beef accompanied by a salad, along with beverages. A typical dessert and coffee will also be part of your meal.

Tour Timings

Be aware of the following schedules depending on your chosen tour:

• 1-hour ride: available at 9 am and 2 pm with a snack. The ride with an Argentine barbecue is offered solely at 9 am.
• 2-hour ride: takes place at 8 am and 2 pm, including a snack. The ride that includes an Argentine barbecue is only scheduled for 8 am.
• 3-hour ride: follows the same schedule as the 2-hour ride.
