San Jose Caves Valencia Day Trip
Description
Explore one of Valencia's most spectacular natural environments, the labyrinthine St Joseph's Caves, and enjoy a boat trip on Europe's longest underground river. What are you waiting for?
Valencia's San Jose Caves
On the morning of your tour, you'll be picked up from your selected meeting point in Valencia city centre at the indicated time, setting off towards the north direction, towards Vall de Uxó, a town near Castellón where the famous cave system - the largest in the region - is located. After around an hour's drive, you'll arrive at San Jose Caves, or the grutes de Sant Josep in Valencian. These caves are the largest underground caves in the Valencian Community.
To explore the cave system in depth, you'll board a boat and sail down the longest subterranean river in Europe. Enjoy a 55-minute cruise on the underground waterway, marvelling at the enormous galleries, passing under dramatic stalactites, and visiting spaces like "The Cathedral" and the "Bat Room".
There's also a small area where you will walk inside the cave. In total, you'll travel 850 meters (about half a mile) by boat and 200 meters (650 ft) walking through the dry gallery. Continue your adventure on foot, learning all about the origins of the caves and their evolution over the course of history.
After making the most of your time at the San Jose Caves, you'll return to the starting points in Valencia, arriving 4 hours after departure.
