Valencia Free Walking Tour
At the designated time, we will embark on a guided exploration of Valencia's heart, where captivating tales about its major landmarks await us, including the Basilica of the Virgen de los Desamparados and the Turia Fountain.
As we wander through the Plaza de la Virgen, we will delve into two significant Valencian customs: the floral tribute during the Fallas festival, which celebrates St. Joseph annually, and the Tribunal of Waters, a UNESCO-recognized cultural practice resolving irrigation issues among farmers. We will also take in the stunning renaissance architecture of the Town Hall, the administrative center for the Valencian government.
Our tour will then proceed to the Miguelete, the bell tower associated with the Valencia Cathedral. Here, we will share intriguing stories and lesser-known facts about this iconic church, followed by a visit to the gothic Llotja de la Seda, a testament to the city's 15th-century golden age in commerce.
Shifting gears, we will leap forward to 1914 with a quick walk across the street to the Valencia Central Market, an exceptional example of Valencian modernism that emerged in the early 20th century.
The journey continues as we explore the Serranos Towers, alongside the Quart Gate, these structures serve as remarkable relics from the medieval fortifications that once encircled Valencia.
Concluding an enlightening 2.5-hour tour through this coastal gem, we will wrap up our experience.
