How to Reach Sicily from Malta?
For those seeking to transit from Malta to Sicily, we suggest booking this ferry ride departing from Valletta. Aboard a ferry from the Maltese capital, we will arrive in Sicily in just 1 hour and 45 minutes, ready to uncover two of its key attractions: Mount Etna and Taormina.
Trip Overview
At the scheduled time, we will gather at the Marsa port in Valletta. From there, we will embark on a ferry heading to Sicily. Get ready to go!
Upon reaching the Pozzallo port, a quaint fishing village located in the southern part of the island, we will board a bus prepared to take us to Mount Etna, a journey lasting approximately 2 hours.
Our ascent will lead us to the Sylvestri crater, sitting at an altitude of 2,000 m (6,561 ft), where stunning panoramic views of the volcanic landscape await. Did you know that Etna is among the world’s most active volcanoes? Its continuous eruptions and grand stature render it one of Europe’s most distinctive sites. Truly breathtaking!
We will tour the slopes of Mount Etna before granting you 2 hours of free time to explore at your own pace. We recommend taking the cable car to experience the lunar landscape from above, characterized by the red hue of the rocks and the dark shades of the lava.
Once your free time concludes, we will regroup and proceed to the enchanting town of Taormina, which is approximately a 1.5-hour drive away. Upon arrival, you will have 2 hours of leisure to traverse this charming city and savor some local dishes. Did you know it’s renowned as the most exclusive destination in Sicily?
You will have the opportunity to visit the renowned Ancient Theatre, offering spectacular vistas of Etna and the Ionian Sea, wander along Corso Umberto with its stylish shops and cafes, or simply soak in the authentic Mediterranean ambiance.
To conclude, we will return to Pozzallo port to board the ferry back to Malta, wrapping up this enriching 15-hour journey.
