Tour Overview
The adventure begins at Plaza Sotomayor at the scheduled time, where we'll embark on a journey tracing the footsteps of Pablo Neruda. During this exploration, we'll delve into the locations that inspired his celebrated works and ignited his love for the sea.
Our first stop will be the First Pier, where the tale of Lord Cochrane awaits. What’s the connection between this esteemed Scottish sailor and Valparaíso? While uncovering this intriguing narrative, we'll pass by significant landmarks such as the First Fire Company, the Ministry of Culture, and the Navy Building. Understanding these historical sites will enhance our appreciation for Neruda’s profound admiration of maritime trades and the courage of those who embraced them.
We will continue our ascent to Cerro Alegre via the Peral funicular, which offers captivating vistas of the city and harbor. At the Paseo Yugoslavo, we will take a moment to admire the open bay, the very horizon reflected in the poet's writings. We will then descend the Bevestrello stairs and stroll along the Gálvez passage, immersing ourselves in the classic Bohemian vibe that Neruda cherished.
Our next destination will be the Gervasoni and Atkinson viewpoints, where we will gaze at the port, appreciating the charm of the delightful chaos that Neruda admired here. We will walk across the Piano staircase, a small marvel of urban artistry, leading us to the Dimalow passage, painted with local cafés and shops.
Following this, we will take the Reina Victoria elevator to arrive at the Casa Museo La Sebastiana in Valparaíso. Here, we will step into what was once the home of Pablo Neruda.
