La Antigua & San Juan de Ulúa Tour

Our adventure begins at 9 am with a pickup at your hotel in Veracruz. We will set off towards La Antigua, a charming town situated approximately 28 kilometers (17 miles) from Veracruz's port. After about a 40-minute ride in a minibus, we'll reach the site recognized as the first established European community in the 'New World'.

As we stroll through its quaint streets, we will visit notable landmarks including the Casa del Cabildo, the Chapel of the Rosary, and the residence of Hernán Cortés, the famous conquistador who facilitated the fusion of two cultures in this region.

In La Antigua, you will encounter millenary trees that hold tales of historic conquests. Among them, we'll observe the renowned Ceiba tree, where it is believed that Hernán Cortés anchored his caravels upon his arrival to the New World.

Subsequently, our next stop is San Juan de Ulúa, situated on a small island off the coast of Veracruz. This location boasts the status of being one of the oldest fortifications in the Americas. Here, we will explore a site that once protected Spanish vessels and later served as a stronghold against pirates, ultimately becoming a prison for supporters of the Mexican Independence and Revolution.

Upon concluding our tour of the fortress, we'll embark on a panoramic excursion around the port and the historic center of Veracruz. Highlights will include the telegraph building, the Malecon, the bastion of Santiago, the old maritime customs house, and other significant sites that reflect the region's legacy.

Before returning, we will head south to Boca del Río, celebrated for its stunning beaches and beautiful vistas of the Jamapa River. Here, we will visit Banderas Square, Santa Ana Church, and the Municipal Palace.

Our enriching experience will conclude with a return to your hotels around 2 pm.
