Palace of Versailles Tour
Description
Immerse yourself in the rich history and opulent grandeur of the renowned Palace of Versailles as you embark on an informative guided tour through its splendid chambers.
Tour of the Palace of Versailles
Our meeting point is set for the designated time, right in front of the equestrian statue of Louis XIV, situated in Place d'Armes.
Prepare for a captivating 1.5-hour guided tour of the Palace of Versailles, where you will unveil the mysteries of this classical French Baroque architectural masterpiece, which gained UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979. We will first explore the Royal Apartments, adorned with stunning decorations reflective of Louis XIV's refined tastes. You’ll be struck by the intricate tapestries, vibrant paintings, rich curtains, and delicate ornamental details.
Next, we will move to the exquisite Hall of Mirrors. This iconic gallery stands out among the most significant rooms in the Palace of Versailles, known for its elaborate lamps, sculptures, and stunning frescoes by Charles Le Brun, alongside the famous mirrors. Our knowledgeable guide will share the historical significance of the Treaty of Versailles, which marked the conclusion of the First World War in 1919 and was signed in this very room.
Upon concluding the 1.5-hour guided tour, you’ll receive tickets to explore the remaining royal residences at your own pace: the Grand Trianon, the Petit Trianon, and the private estate of Marie Antoinette, which features a charming model village known as the Queen's Hamlet. You are also welcome to wander through the magnificent gardens of the Palace of Versailles and admire its elaborate fountains at your leisure.
