At the scheduled time, we will gather at the main entrance of the Sternwheeler Hotel in Whitehorse. From there, we'll board a bus that takes us along the hiking path by the Yukon River, guiding us to the scenic surrounds of the Miles Canyon.

During our 2-hour hike, we will navigate the volcanic formations that characterize Miles Canyon, taking in breathtaking views featuring vibrant forests and trails, contrasted by the turquoise hue of the Yukon River.

As we progress through the expansive outskirts of Whitehorse, we'll gain insight into the significant history and relevance of this region, which played a crucial role in the town's establishment. The gold rush in this area notably contributed to the development of Whitehorse and marked the endpoint for paddle-wheel riverboats traversing the river.

To deepen our understanding of the gold rush history, we will make a stop at Canyon City, a ghost town recognized as a Yukon government Heritage Site. The challenging terrain of Miles Canyon was one of the most formidable barriers encountered by those venturing up the Yukon River during the 1898 gold rush.

We anticipate returning to Whitehorse around 4:30 pm.
