At the scheduled time, we will convene at the entrance of the Sternwheeler Hotel in Whitehorse. From there, a bus will transport us to our hiking path along the Yukon River, allowing us to delve into the surroundings of the Miles Canyon.

Our 2-hour trek will guide us around the impressive volcanic formations that constitute Miles Canyon, where we can admire the stunning views characterized by lush forests and pathways contrasted against the striking turquoise waters of the Yukon River.

As we traverse the extensive outskirts of Whitehorse, we will delve into the region's rich history and its pivotal role in shaping the city's growth. The gold rush significantly impacted Whitehorse's establishment as a vital terminus for paddle-wheel riverboats navigating these waters.

To deepen our understanding of this historical period, we will venture to Canyon City, an abandoned settlement recognized as a Yukon government Heritage Site. This area posed a significant challenge during the 1898 gold rush for those journeying along the Yukon River.

After approximately 3 hours, we will make our way back to Whitehorse.
