Day Trip Outline
Are you ready to immerse yourself in the scenic beauty of the Aragonese Pyrenees? We will commence our journey with a pick-up at the Monument to the Victims of the Sieges at the scheduled time, before departing northwards towards Huesca.
Our scenic drive will take approximately 2 hours until we reach Canfranc, home to a railway terminal celebrated as one of the most stunning train stations in Spain.
What significance did this location hold during World War II? Why was it deemed a crucial point? These questions will be addressed during a brief guided tour around the Canfranc International Station, now operating as a luxurious 5-star hotel.
Following the tour, you’ll have 1 hour of leisure time in Canfranc to take in the breathtaking views at your own pace. After this, we’ll regroup and embark on a 30-minute drive towards Jaca. Upon arrival in this vibrant city, recognized as the capital of the Aragonese Pyrenees, we will undertake a guided tour focused on its notable landmarks, including the striking Cathedral of San Pedro and the Citadel.
After exploring, you’ll have around 2 hours of free time in Jaca to browse local shops and indulge in the exquisite mountain cuisine. Once you’ve satisfied your appetite, we’ll depart for a brief 50-minute drive to Sallent de Gállego, one of the most picturesque towns in the region.
In this delightful mountain village nestled in the Tena Valley, you’ll appreciate the majestic mountains that surround the town, through which the Gállego River flows. A leisurely walk along its cobblestone streets will reveal traditional stone houses and stunning views of the Lanuza Reservoir.
You’ll then enjoy 1 hour of free time in Sallent de Gállego before we commence the journey back to our original meeting spot in Zaragoza, concluding this 11-hour day trip.
