Jungfraujoch Day Trip
Description
Experience the enchanting allure of Jungfraujoch, renowned as one of the most breathtaking natural wonders in Switzerland. Ascend to a stunning altitude of 11,371 feet (3,466 meters) using the celebrated rack railway and find yourself at the Top of Europe!
Jungfraujoch Day Trip
Your adventure to the "Top of Europe" will commence from the Sihlquai bus terminal in Zurich. As you navigate through the picturesque landscapes of the Bernese Oberland, a delightful stop in the charming town of Interlaken awaits, perfectly situated between the scenic Lakes Thun and Brienz. After enjoying the views in Interlaken, the journey will continue to the quaint village of Grindelwald.
In Grindelwald, you will board the Eiger Express heading towards the Eiger Glacier. Here, you will switch to the rack railway, commonly referred to as the cogwheel train, taking you to Europe’s highest train station!
At an impressive elevation of 3,466 meters (11,371 ft), you will arrive at the Jungfraujoch summit. Known as the "Top of Europe", this magnificent locale provides breathtaking vistas of the surrounding peaks, including the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Prepare to be astounded by the exceptional natural beauty, now protected as a World Heritage Site.
Upon reaching Jungfraujoch, you will have around 2.5 hours of free time to explore the various attractions available and perhaps enjoy a meal at one of the local restaurants. After soaking in the wonders of the mountain, you’ll regroup with your guide to board the rack railway back to Lauterbrunnen before concluding your journey back to Zurich by bus, arriving around 8 PM.
Activities at Jungfraujoch
Once you arrive at Jungfraujoch, a variety of activities will enhance your visit at the Top of Europe:
- Sphinx Observation Terrace: explore one of the world’s highest observatories, which offers stunning panoramic views of the snow-blanketed Swiss mountains and the Aletsch Glacier, the longest glacier in Europe.
- Ice Palace: venture into the interior of a glacier through a tunnel meticulously sculpted from ice.
- Alpine Sensation: engage with a captivating exhibition detailing the history of Jungfraujoch, including a tribute to the miners who constructed the railway and a giant snow globe.
