Rhine Waterfalls + Stein am Rhein Day Trip
Description
Are you ready to discover northern Switzerland? Embark on this excursion from Zurich, where we will take in the breathtaking Rhine Falls and explore the charming town of Stein am Rhein, located near the German border.
Tour Overview
At the scheduled time, we will gather at the Sihlquai bus station parking lot. From this point in Zurich, our journey to the northern region of Switzerland will commence. The stunning landscapes of this northern area are sure to leave a lasting impression.
Our adventure begins at Laufen Castle. In addition to touring the castle, which includes the Historama exhibition, visitors can enjoy magnificent views of the Rhine Falls, a must-see natural wonder in northern Switzerland.
You will have around one hour to appreciate the falls, accessible via the panoramic lift of the castle. An option to stroll along the Belvedere path leads to a viewing platform positioned just above the falls. Adventurous guests may also choose to take a boat ride at their own cost, available only from April to October.
Following this spectacular experience, our journey continues through northern Switzerland, passing through the town of Schaffhausen to view the impressive exterior of the Munot Fortress. We will then proceed to the medieval town of Stein am Rhein.
In this picturesque village, we'll embark on a walking tour through the historic streets of the old town, where fascinating frescoes adorn various buildings. A notable highlight is the Haus zum Weissen Adler, known as the House of the White Eagle, home to the most significant Renaissance mural painting in Switzerland.
After completing our guided walk in Stein am Rhein, you are free to enjoy a drink and leisurely explore the medieval village center. We will gather again at the village center to return to our original meeting point in Zurich, concluding this 5-hour and 15-minute excursion.
