Hiking in the Izta-Popo National Park

Your adventure begins at 9 am when we will collect you from your accommodation in Cholula. You will then board our minibus for a journey to the Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park, crossing the renowned Paso de Cortés mountain pass. Our first stop will be at La Joyita car park, marking the starting point of our hike.

The hiking trail begins at a height of 3,900 meters, leading us along the portillos route, a 4-kilometer pathway surrounded by snowy vistas, lush coniferous woods, and arid areas. During this segment, keep an eye out for the unique wildlife, including coatis, deer, coyotes, and badgers.

As we trek, two magnificent volcanoes appear on the horizon: Iztaccihuatl and Popocatépetl. Have you heard the lore that intertwines their stories? You’ll discover it soon!

After a captivating four hours exploring this remarkable national park, we will return to our starting point. Subsequently, we will head back to your hotels in Cholula, arriving by approximately 5 pm.
