La Cocha Lake Excursion

Our adventure begins at the Plaza de Nariño, where we will depart as scheduled towards the Putumayo department. After a scenic journey of around 40 minutes, we'll arrive at our destination. Notably, this lake ranks as the second-largest in Colombia, following Lake Tota.

As we stroll through this captivating natural landscape, we will uncover the fascinating glacial history behind this magnificent lake. Our path will lead us to the village of El Puerto, characterized by its charming wooden houses influenced by Swiss architecture, which dot the lakeside.

The next highlight of our trip is a visit to a local farm, where the resident family will guide us on a tour of their self-sustaining estate. Here, we'll see their lush orchards, organic crops, and guinea pig farming practices. Following the tour, a delightful traditional lunch featuring fresh ingredients from the farm will be served!

Post-lunch, we will make our way back to La Cocha Lagoon to board a speedboat that will take us on an exciting exploration of this water reserve. On our journey to the sanctuary of La Corota Island, situated at the heart of the lagoon, we'll disembark to take a closer look at the region's captivating wildlife. Moreover, we'll delve into the area's intriguing legends.

To conclude our day, we’ll return to Pasto for a farewell snack, wrapping up the tour at the original meeting point after about 10 hours of exploration.
