This two-day expedition invites you to explore the breathtaking landscapes of the Uyuni salt flat, the largest salt desert on the planet. Experience a captivating sunset, marvel at the Tunupa volcano, and interact with the unique culture of various Andean villages.

Description

Day 1

We will collect you from Uyuni Airport at the agreed time and embark towards the magnificent salt flat. Our journey begins with a stop at the Train Cemetery, where you'll witness the remnants of numerous abandoned locomotives from the 20th century.

Next, we head to the charming village of Colchani, visiting a local marketplace and a salt processing facility managed by local artisans. Our trek continues as we arrive at the sprawling Uyuni salt flat, taking a leisurely walk through this awe-inspiring site that holds a staggering 60% of the world's lithium reserves.

While at the salt flat, you will see iconic salt piles, intriguing waterholes, and unique monuments, including one dedicated to the Dakar Rally. We will explore the very first salt hotel and savor a picnic lunch on the salt flats, creating a memorable dining experience!

Afterward, we’ll venture to Incahuasi Island, renowned for its towering cacti. A hike to the summit offers panoramic views overlooking the entire salt flat—a perfect opportunity for photos!

As day transitions to night, we’ll return to our hotel, then venture out to witness a breathtaking sunset over the Uyuni salt flat, a truly unforgettable sight!

Day 2

We rise with the dawn as the first rays of sunlight brighten the sky and enjoy a delicious breakfast before heading to Coqueza, a quaint town that rests at the foothills of the Tunupa volcano. Here, you will appreciate the natural beauty and learn about the Andean roots of its name. Can you guess what it signifies?

When we reach the base of Tunupa, we’ll board our vehicle for a trip to an astonishing lookout that provides unparalleled views of the Uyuni salt flat. For those feeling adventurous, a hike to the summit can be undertaken.

After our exploration, we’ll make our way back to the hotel, stopping to absorb the stunning surroundings characteristic of this region in Bolivia.

Day 3

After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, we’ll prepare for our journey home. Once everything is set, we’ll board our vehicle and return to the starting point.

Your adventure will conclude at the airport, marking the end of an enriching experience.

This three-day experience includes two nights of lodging in Uyuni, allowing you to choose from either 3 or 4-star options:

• 3-star accommodation: Casa de Sal, Kachi, or similar
• Superior 3-star accommodation: Cristal Samaña 3-star Superior, or similar
• 4-star accommodation: Palacio de Sal, Luna Salada 4-star, or similar
