Escape the lively pace of Dublin for a refreshing day immersed in nature by joining this hiking route along the Howth Peninsula. Experience stunning cliffs, explore a prehistoric site, and visit an enchanting medieval castle throughout the day.
Howth Peninsula Hiking Tour
We will convene at the designated hour near the Spire monument. From there, we will proceed to the train station, departing from the city center and embarking on a scenic journey to the quaint fishing village of Howth. This trip will take roughly 30 minutes.
Located at the northern edge of Dublin Bay, Howth is a tranquil escape favored by locals on weekends, alongside visitors eager to embrace the beauty of the Irish countryside.
To fully appreciate the area’s enchanting qualities, we will embark on a walking adventure around the Howth Peninsula. Along the way, we'll be treated to breathtaking views of the Irish Sea, and on clear days, the Mourne Mountains from across the border may be visible.
The route will take us along the Howth fishing pier, where we will also stroll through the expansive grounds of the castle, which interestingly hosts a golf course. As we walk, we will encounter a variety of flora, including beech and azalea trees. Additionally, we'll discover a megalithic tomb or dolmen that dates back over 3,000 years!
The hike will lead us along the towering cliffs of the peninsula, culminating at Ben of Howth, the village’s highest summit, where you’ll surely take countless photos!
After our hike, we will visit a local restaurant for a well-deserved lunch break, allowing you an hour to recharge. Once refreshed, we will return to the train station for the trip back to Dublin.
The tour will conclude with our return to the original meeting point approximately between seven and a half to eight hours after we started our adventure.
