Las Lajas Sanctuary stands as one of the prominent pilgrimage sites in Colombia. During this trip from Ipiales, we will explore this revered location along with the Ecuadorian town of Tulcán.

Excursion to Las Lajas Sanctuary & Tulcán

Our journey begins at 10 am at Parque Santander in Ipiales, Colombia. From this central meeting point, we will proceed to visit the remarkable Las Lajas Sanctuary, officially named the National Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Las Lajas, often referred to simply as Las Lajas Shrine.

Upon reaching the sanctuary, we will take a guided tour of this renowned spiritual center, exploring its museum and various facilities. Highlights include the esteemed altar of Our Lady of Las Lajas, where we'll delve into the captivating story behind the 'Miracle of God over the Abyss'.

As part of our visit, we will ascend via the sanctuary's cable car. This mode of transport offers stunning vistas of the Guaitara canyon, making for an unforgettable experience amid breathtaking scenery.

Following our insightful tour of Las Lajas, we will head back to Ipiales, where a traditional lunch awaits at a local eatery. Expect to savor lapingacho, a classic Andean dish featuring grilled meat served with Spanish omelette and cheese.

After the meal, we will continue our adventure by crossing into Ecuador to discover key attractions in the vibrant city of Tulcán.

Concluding our itinerary, there will be around 30 minutes of leisure time in the city's commercial district before we reconvene at the starting point, with a return planned for 6 pm.
