Tour of Chaves, Boticas, & Montalegre

Are you ready to explore Trás-os-Montes? This northeastern area of Portugal promises to captivate you throughout your journey. Those selecting this option will first venture into Montalegre, noted for its majestic 12th-century fortress perched atop a hill. Subsequently, we’ll explore the Ecomuseum of Montalegre, where the rich history and cultural heritage of this delightful municipality will be unveiled.

Next, we will proceed to the charming village of Boticas, characterized by its charming stone cottages and home to a Rural Museum, showcasing various historical agricultural implements. During our visit, you’ll have an hour of leisure to savor lunch at one of the local restaurants (meal not included).

The final destination is the town of Chaves, where you can admire the stunning medieval fortress, recognized as a National Monument. Our route will also take us past the Roman bridge of Trajano and the renowned Chaves hot springs before heading back to Montalegre.

Tour of Chaves, Valpaços, & Vila Pouca de Aguiar

This alternative option allows you to explore Chaves, similar to the previous tour, while also visiting other iconic sites in Trás-os-Montes.

We’ll uncover the treasures of Vila Pouca de Aguiar and meander through the Parque de Pedras Salgadas, an exquisite forested area adorned with stones of diverse shapes. In addition, we will tour Valpaços, home to a Wine Museum where the renowned winemaking legacy of the region will be introduced to you. The choice of sites to explore is yours!
