Tamaya Hill Hike

Our adventure begins with a pickup from your designated hotel in downtown Ovalle at the arranged time. After approximately thirty minutes, we will arrive at the historic mining site of Tamaya.

Did you know that Tamaya was a leading center for copper extraction around the globe? As we trek through this fascinating region, we’ll uncover its intriguing past. This 2-kilometer (1.2-mile) trail presents moderate challenges and includes an elevation gain of about 317 meters (1,040 feet); however, the reward at the summit will make it all worthwhile!

Standing at 1,180 meters above sea level, the peak of Tamaya Hill offers stunning panoramic vistas of the Coquimbo coastlines, valleys, and mountain ranges. Make sure to have your cameras ready to capture these breathtaking moments!

During our trek, we will pause for a delightful snack break featuring juice, a cereal bar, and cookies. Once we’ve replenished ourselves and savored the spectacular scenery, we will begin our descent back to the starting point.

The hike concludes with our return to your hotel in Ovalle, completing a total hiking experience of around 4 hours.

Hotel Pickup

This experience includes hotel pickup from locations in downtown Ovalle. For guests in more distant areas, we will arrange to meet at the designated time at the Plaza de Armas, the city’s main square.
