Day Trip Overview

We'll convene at the Renaissance Shanghai Yuyuan Hotel, conveniently situated in downtown Shanghai, to begin our engaging day trip.

Before departing the city, our first stop will be the Old Town, focusing on the Chenghuang Historical Area. This vibrant section of Shanghai is rich in character, allowing us to immerse ourselves in its lively surroundings and historical charm.

From there, we will visit the stunning Yu Garden, a prime example of traditional Chinese garden architecture. You will appreciate its tranquil pavilions, koi-filled ponds, and detailed rock formations. Following this visit, we will enjoy a traditional lunch that showcases authentic Shanghai cuisine, along with a taste of some local specialties.

Post-lunch, we will board a bus for a scenic hour-long drive to Zhujiajiao, a historic treasure found 50 km (30 mi) away from Shanghai. Recognized as the best-preserved water town in the region, its reputation as the Venice of Shanghai is well-deserved!

Upon arrival in Zhujiajiao, we will wander through its quaint streets and appreciate the ancient homes lining the waterways. Strolling across its charming stone bridges, some dating back over 5,000 years, our guide will share fascinating stories and legends about this remarkable place.

After spending 2.5 hours exploring Zhujiajiao, we'll return to the bus and head back to Shanghai. Upon returning, we will make a concluding stop at the iconic Bund, where we can observe the impressive "World Architecture Gallery" as our guide describes the rich history of these landmark buildings.

After a fulfilling day lasting approximately 9 hours, we will conclude our tour here, granting you the opportunity to continue your discovery of the Bund at your leisure.
