Colca Canyon to Puno Day Trip

Experience one of the most breathtaking panoramas in the Andean region with this excursion to Colca Canyon, departing from Arequipa. The journey concludes in Puno, renowned as the heart of Peruvian folklore, inviting further exploration.

Excursion Overview

Your adventure begins with pickup directly from your hotel in Arequipa, followed by a scenic 3-hour bus ride across southern Peru, leading us to the picturesque town of Chivay. At an impressive altitude of over 3000 meters (9800 feet), we will take a break for a delicious breakfast, featuring bread accompanied by butter and jam, complemented with juice and a choice of coffee or tea to kickstart your day.

Post-breakfast, we will explore the quaint town of Yanque before heading to the famous Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint. You may choose to engage in a brief hike along the way. Upon reaching the viewpoint, you'll be rewarded with a stunning view of the magnificent Colca Canyon, one of the most profound canyons globally. Keep an eye out for the majestic Andean condors, often seen soaring above this ideal habitat.

Continuing our journey, we will visit additional towns and viewpoints in Colca Valley, including Wayrapunko and Antahuillque. Next, we will unwind at the Chacapi hot springs, where you can soak for an hour in natural thermal pools.

Our culinary experience will follow, set in a local restaurant where you'll savor traditional dishes and regional delicacies. Afterward, we will make our way to Puno, the final stop of our journey.

On our return leg, we’ll take a moment to stretch our legs at the Patapampa viewpoint, offering stunning vistas of the Ampato and Sabancaya volcanoes. We will also pause at the Salinas Reserve and Lagunillas, hoping to glimpse the herds of camelids or flocks of wild birds native to this region.

The day concludes back in the historic center of Puno, wrapping up a fulfilling 17-hour experience.

If your accommodation is situated outside this area, please make your way to the designated meet-up point, located at the entrance of the Basilica Cathedral of Arequipa within the grounds of the Plaza de Armas at the specified time.
