Join us on an exploration of Cajas National Park, departing from Cuenca. Discover the breathtaking Ecuadorian highlands from various scenic viewpoints while immersing yourself in the unique ecosystem.

Cajas National Park Adventure

Our journey begins at 8:30 am, where we will meet you at Parque Calderón to board our bus. Departing from Cuenca, we will travel approximately 50 minutes to reach the stunning Cajas National Park.

Upon arrival, our first stop will be at the enchanting Llaviucu Lagoon. This area, resting nearly 10,000 feet (3,000 meters) above sea level, is the lowest point in the park. Here, we will embark on a 1-hour 30-minute hiking excursion, allowing us to appreciate the area's captivating flora and fauna.

Following our hike, we will resume our journey with a visit to Loma de las Tres Cruces, known as "Three Crosses Hill." Elevated at over 13,000 feet (4,000 meters), this site serves as the continental divide between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. From this remarkable viewpoint, you will be treated to stunning vistas of the park's numerous glacial lakes, which number more than 200!

Continuing our adventure, we'll take a brief pause to observe Toreadore Lake, then move on to the remarkable Polilepys Forest. This forest is renowned for its ancient trees and boasts remarkable biological diversity within the páramo ecosystem.

After a day filled with exploration, we’ll indulge in a satisfying lunch at a local restaurant. Our meal will feature a comforting potato soup followed by a second course, which may include trout or roasted chicken.

As the day comes to a close, we will begin our return journey, arriving back at Parque Calderón in Cuenca by 3 pm, where we will bid you farewell.
