The ancient Andean city of Waqrapukara, constructed by the pre-Colombian Qanchi tribe and later integrated into the Inca Empire, stands out as a significant archaeological marvel of Peru.

Waqrapukara Expedition

Our journey begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Cusco, between 3 and 4 am, after which we will depart southwards, venturing deep into the Andean region. Our first stop will be in Cusipata, a two-hour ride from Cusco, where we will enjoy a hearty breakfast before continuing our adventure.

As we travel, you'll be enchanted by breathtaking landscapes, charming villages, and vibrant turquoise lakes. Approximately two hours into our journey, we will reach the village of Pitumarca. Here, we will embark on an eight-kilometer trek that leads us to the remarkable archaeological site of Waqrapukara.

During the visit to this ancient site of the Qanchi civilization, we will explore the Inti Punku archaeological remains, a fortification integral to the legacy of Machu Picchu. Known as the 'Sun Gate', this site is noteworthy for its historical significance, featuring its main square and impressive turrets.

Following our exploration of the fascinating Waqrapukara site, we will journey back to Cusipata to savor a delightful Peruvian buffet lunch. After our meal, we will make our way back to the original departure location in Cusco, with an estimated return around 6 pm.
