Day Excursion to the Caves of Sant Josep

We will gather at the Oropesa del Mar Tourist Office at the agreed time. From this point, a comfortable minibus will take us to the Sierra Espadán Natural Park, home to the charming municipality of Vall de Uxó. The enchanting Caves of Sant Josep are just ahead!

After approximately 50 minutes on the road, we will arrive at the Caves of Sant Josep, renowned as the premier natural attraction in Castellón and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Our adventure begins with a boat ride, allowing us to delve into the wonders of the Vall de Uxó caves. As we navigate the waters of the longest underground river in Europe, insightful discussions on the caves' geological features will enrich our experience. Look out for remarkable stalactites and stalagmites that adorn the cave walls.

Following this, we will traverse the 250-metre (829-foot) long gallery to uncover the rich history encapsulated within these walls. The Caves of Sant Josep have a heritage dating back over 15,000 years, evidenced by ancient cave paintings and discovered animal bones.

After 40 minutes of cave exploration, we will ascend to the surface and take in the stunning landscape surrounding us. Once our adventure concludes, we will return to our minibus and make our way back to Oropesa del Mar, concluding the trip approximately five hours later.
