Excursion to Ometepe Island

Discover the wonders of the world's largest volcanic island, observe the unique congo monkeys, and delve into the historical narratives of Nicaragua on this journey to the freshwater island of Ometepe!

Description

The adventure begins at 8 am with a transfer from Managua, leading us on a scenic 2-hour drive to San Jorge. Here, we will board a ferry that takes us to the stunning island of Ometepe. Be prepared to be captivated by the breathtaking expanse of Lake Nicaragua, historically recognized by Spanish conquerors as "the ocean of fresh water"!

Upon setting foot on the island, we will head to the renowned Chaco Verde Nature Reserve, celebrated for its rich biodiversity, encompassing vibrant congo monkeys and various plant species. Our exploration will immerse you in the stunning landscape of the reserve until around 1 pm, when you’ll have some leisure time to enjoy lunch at one of the local eateries.

Following lunch, we will proceed to the Ojo de Agua pools, where you can indulge in a soothing swim in the volcanic waters. Additionally, we will have the chance to discover a remarkable array of pre-Columbian artifacts housed in the El Ceibo Museum.

To round off this enriching excursion, we'll take the ferry back and return to Managua via minibus, with an expected arrival at your hotel around 7 pm.
