Day Trip to Mexiquillo Natural Park

Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Durango, from where we will journey toward the Mexiquillo Natural Park.

Following a scenic two-hour drive, we will reach our destination, discovering a stunning lake framed by coniferous trees and native pine species. Our exploration continues as we make our way to the Stone Garden, an expansive area displaying petrified lava rock formations sculpted by the force of wind erosion.

Subsequently, we will visit the magnificent Mexiquillo waterfall, which cascades at an impressive height of 65 feet (20 meters) over the river known as La Ciudad.

Next, we will explore the intriguing tunnels of an unfinished railway project that have seamlessly integrated into the park's natural surroundings. These tunnels soar to a height of 20 feet (6 meters) and stretch for 328 feet (100 meters), with some extending nearly one mile!

Our journey will lead us to a stunning viewpoint that offers panoramic vistas of the green lungs of Durango state. Be attentive, as cliff chipmunks are known to inhabit this area!

As our day unfolds, we will exit the beautiful natural park and make our way back to your hotel in Durango, with an estimated return time of seven hours later.
