Join us for an exciting whale watching adventure as we set sail on a speedboat in the stunning Húsavík Bay. Prepare to observe magnificent marine mammals alongside the charming Icelandic puffins.
Activity Overview
We'll convene at the scheduled time at the Gentle Giants office in Húsavík, where you will board the speedboat and embark on a journey into the enchanting Húsavík Bay. This is your opportunity to witness some of the ocean's most remarkable residents up close as we set out for an unforgettable whale watching experience.
As we navigate the bay, keep your eyes peeled for the largest whales surfacing and performing their awe-inspiring jumps. Throughout the speedboat excursion, our guide will share fascinating insights about these majestic creatures that inhabit the waters of northern Iceland.
After approximately 2 hours of exploration, we will conclude our adventure on the water.
Puffin Observation Season
If your experience takes place between April 15 and August 15, we'll kick off the journey with a visit to Puffin Island to enjoy the sights of these delightful birds during their active season.
For trips outside this timeframe, our focus will primarily be on whale observation. Please be aware that if weather or sea conditions necessitate changes, the stop at Puffin Island may be canceled at short notice.
Whale Viewing Insights
- Wildlife is unpredictable; the sightings of whales vary due to a combination of factors including ocean currents, weather patterns, and wind conditions at the time of the tour. Be prepared for rapid changes in the Arctic climate, which can significantly affect animal behavior.
- Please note that the overall duration of the tour may fluctuate based on conditions and the time needed to locate the whales. We prioritize the well-being of the animals, ensuring we do not disrupt their natural habitat.
- If we fail to spot any whales or dolphins during the excursion, you will receive a voucher for a traditional whale watching experience on a wooden vessel at no additional cost; refunds will not be issued.
- In the event of adverse weather preventing the activity, you will have the option to reschedule for another day.
Requirements for Participation
- Participants must have a minimum height of 130 cm.
- This activity is not advisable for individuals with heart or back issues, or for those who are pregnant.

Informações importantes
We'll meet at the Gentle Giants Ticket Center, located at Hafnarstétt 7, Húsavík 640, IS. You'll need to head to the meeting point 40 minutes before the tour starts to check in.
Puffin Season
From April 15 to August 15, we'll kick off the experience by heading to Puffin Island to see these cute birds during their peak season. Outside of these dates, we'll focus more on the whales. If the weather or sea conditions change, even on short notice, we might have to cancel the visit to Puffin Island.
Whale Watching
- Whales can be unpredictable. How many we spot depends on different factors like ocean currents, wind, and the day's weather. The Arctic climate can change really fast, which directly affects how the animals behave.
- Keep in mind that the length of the trip might change based on the weather and how long it takes to find the whales. Either way, we always run this activity with the utmost respect, making sure we don't crowd or disturb them in their natural home.
- If we don't spot any whales or dolphins during the tour, we'll give you a voucher for a traditional whale-watching trip on a wooden boat at no extra cost; however, we won't be able to offer a refund.
- The tour depends on good weather. If it's canceled because of bad weather, we'll give you a voucher for another whale watching tour.

- Individuals with heart or back problems or pregnant people cannot participate in this activity
- It's important to bring warm, waterproof clothing
