Experience the allure of one of Michoacán's renowned Magical Towns while immersing yourself in its stunning natural setting on this excursion to Tacámbaro and the Alberca de Chupio volcanic crater from Morelia.

Tacámbaro & Alberca de Chupio Excursion

Beginning at 8 am, our journey starts with a pickup from your hotel in Morelia as we head towards the enchanting Pueblo Mágico, or Magical Town of Tacámbaro, celebrated for its rich culture, history, and breathtaking scenery.

Our first stop will be at the beautiful Magdalena Lagoon, a picturesque lake nestled amid a lush coniferous forest. Feel free to take a refreshing dip in its inviting waters!

Following our time at the lagoon, we will proceed to the Chapel of María Magdalena, a 16th-century structure formerly owned by Governor Cristóbal de Oñate, where Augustinian monks endeavored to convert local indigenous tribes to Christianity.

Next, we will explore the heart of Tacámbaro, wandering through the Plaza del Santo Niño and appreciating notable religious sites such as the Cathedral, the Church of Fátima, and the Church of Guadalupe. You will then enjoy an hour of free time to savor a meal and indulge in local specialties.

Our adventure continues as we make our way to Alberca de Chupio, a volcanic crater just 3 kilometers from the town. As we explore the enchanting surroundings of the volcano's lake, you'll hear about the intriguing legend of the Combate de las Flores, which involves King Tacamba and the ancient customs of the Purepecha.

After a relaxing time in this serene environment, we will return to Morelia, with an expected arrival back at your hotel around 7 pm.
