Our journey commences at the designated meeting point, where we will board a comfortable bus heading towards Matera, celebrated as one of Italy's most enchanting cities.

Upon arrival, we will disembark and commence a guided exploration of Matera's historic center, renowned as one of the oldest continuously inhabited sites in the world. Fascinatingly, its Sassi districts, intricately hewn into the Murgia Materana, have seen human settlement since the Paleolithic era.

As we stroll through the neighborhoods of Sasso Barisano and Sasso Caveoso, we will uncover the captivating aspects of this World Heritage City and discuss its transformation over the years, from the government's relocations in the 1950s to its current resplendent state.

During our guided excursion, we will also pass notable Baroque churches including the Church of San Francesco d'Assisi, the Church of Santa Chiara, and the magnificent Matera Cathedral, which showcases Apulian Romanesque architecture. The views are simply breathtaking!

After a brief pause for an independent lunch, participants can opt to visit some stunning rock churches in Matera (optional), such as the Church of Santa Maria di Idris, the Church of Santa Lucia alle Malve, or the Church of San Pietro Barisano.

As our excursion to Matera draws to a close, we will gather back on the bus and make our way back to the original meeting point, concluding a fulfilling twelve-hour day.
