Durrës Day Trip + Winery Visit

Immerse yourself in the rich heritage of Durrës, exploring remarkable sites such as the Roman amphitheatre, the Sfinski Monument, and the lively historic centre. This excursion from Tirana promises a deep dive into Albania's cultural treasures.

Day Trip Overview

The journey begins at the designated meeting point on Rruga e Dibrës, from where we will embark on a scenic drive towards Durres, recognized as one of Albania's pivotal cities.

Roughly 50 minutes later, we will arrive and kick off our guided exploration of Durres.

Our first stop is the Roman amphitheatre, a standout landmark and one of the largest structures of its kind in the Balkan Peninsula. As we wander through its ancient ruins, fascinating details about its history and architectural design unfold, including the intriguing fact that natural supports sustain a significant portion of the structure.

Next, we will visit the Sfinksi Monument. This contemporary edifice, inspired by the Egyptian Sphinx, provides stunning panoramic views of both the coastal landscape and the bustling city. Our tour continues into the vibrant historic centre of Durrës, where we will meander through bustling streets filled with cafés, historic architecture, and market stalls, enriching your understanding of the city's origins.

After delving into the history of Albania, we’ll proceed toward the Duka winery, located about 30 minutes away by car. Upon our arrival, we will engage in a 40-minute tour focusing on the intricacies of the winemaking process, local grape varieties, and the distinct features of the regional soil.

Post-tour, we’ll move indoors to enjoy a traditional lunch featuring homemade Raki. The meal will include a delightful array of appetizers, a meat-based main dish, a fresh seasonal salad, dessert, wines from the estate, and water.

Rejuvenated from our meal, you’ll have the opportunity to unwind by the lake adjacent to the winery. Choose your preferred activity, whether it’s a kayak outing or a serene boat ride.

As the day wraps up, we will reconvene for our return journey to the meeting point in Tirana, concluding this enriching 8-hour journey.
