Organic Coffee Tour at Rainforest Farm
Did you know that the priciest coffee globally is extracted from a mammal's digestive system? This fact may come as a surprise, considering that Misha coffee can fetch prices exceeding 1000 dollars per kilogram.
To delve into this captivating subject and uncover many intriguing coffee facts, a pickup from your accommodation in La Merced will be arranged for you at an appointed time. The journey will take us to the Rainforest farm, a premier destination for organic coffee cultivation in the Chanchamayo region. Upon arrival, guests will be greeted with a steaming cup of coffee or an ice cream.
During this tour, we'll explore the process behind the exclusive creation of Misha coffee. The beans are consumed by the coati, also known as mishasho, mingling with the fruits this small animal collects in its stomach and then are excreted as a delicious coffee that some enthusiasts are willing to pay as much as 75 dollars for a single cup!
Additionally, a visit to the Misha Conservation Centre will allow us to learn about the meticulous care provided to the coatis to ensure the production of this sought-after coffee. We will also observe the innovative composting techniques employed to nurture the coffee crops.
Afterward, we'll take a break for lunch, which will include a starter, a main dish, and a beverage, before continuing our exploration of the organic coffee, pineapple, and medicinal plant fields on the farm.
In conclusion, we will return to La Merced, dropping you off at your accommodation after an enriching total of 10 hours.
