Description

Explore the rich tapestry of Irish heritage on this experience aboard the Jeanie Johnston Tall Ship, a faithful reconstruction of a vessel that played a crucial role during the Great Famine of Ireland.

Jeanie Johnston Tall Ship Museum

At the predetermined hour, we will convene at the Jeanie Johnston Tall Ship, situated on the north pier of Dublin. Here, you will embark on a journey through time within this interactive museum, gaining insights into an era that significantly shaped Ireland's narrative.

The 19th century marked an exceptionally challenging time for Ireland, as the country faced devastating famine. This replica of a historical sailing vessel serves as a poignant reminder of the immense struggle faced by those who sought refuge in the New World during these trying times.

For approximately 50 minutes, you will uncover the intricacies of the Trans-Atlantic voyages undertaken by Irish migrants. As you navigate the compact quarters below deck, you will be transported back in time, envisioning the experiences of the hundreds who made the perilous journey. These tight spaces could accommodate as many as 250 individuals.

Additionally, the museum’s life-sized figures enhance the authenticity of the experience. Each figure tells the real-life tales of individuals who sailed to America, driven by the hope of a fresh start on distant shores.
