Day Excursion to Ingapirca, Gualaceo & Chordeleg

Our journey begins at 7:30 am, when we will pick you up from your hotel in Guayaquil, setting our course towards Ingapirca, a renowned archaeological site from the Inca era.

Upon arrival, we will participate in a guided tour of this 16th-century citadel, engaging in discussions about its potential functions as an observatory for celestial events. Highlights of our visit include the central plaza, the Temple of the Sun, as well as the ancient burial grounds and storage facilities, all while uncovering interesting insights about this Cañari heritage site.

After our exploration, we will enjoy a traditional lunch at a local eatery, providing you with options such as mote (boiled grains) or fritada (crispy pork). Following our meal, we will proceed to Chordeleg, known for its exceptional handicrafts, where you'll discover intricate items crafted from toquilla straw, as well as metals like gold and silver, along with clay-based crafts. This canton is home to over 100 jewelry shops that utilize traditional goldsmithing methods.

Our final destination before returning will be Gualaceo, where we will wander through vibrant markets filled with fresh produce and local goods. Additionally, we will visit a macana workshop to gain insights into this ancient textile art.

We will conclude our day by returning you to your hotel in Guayaquil, with an estimated arrival time of 5:30 pm.
