Itinerary: Journey Through Giacomo Serpotta's Artistic Legacy

At the arranged time, we will convene at the Oratory of San Lorenzo, initiating an adventure to appreciate some of Palermo's most notable Baroque churches. We'll particularly highlight those embellished by the esteemed Sicilian sculptor, Giacomo Serpotta, whose significant contributions are deeply embedded within the city’s history.

Born in Palermo, Giacomo Serpotta is often regarded as a forerunner of the Rococo movement. Our journey into his artistic influence begins at the Oratory of San Lorenzo, located within the Convent of San Francesco d'Assisi.

As we explore this site, we will admire the stucco creations by Serpotta, each piece exuding incredible realism and detailed craftsmanship. The sculptures portray pivotal moments from St. Lawrence’s life, illustrations of Christian virtues, and an array of cherubs, all designed to spark your imagination.

The experience continues with visits to the Oratories of Santa Cita and San Domenico.
