Hike Overview

Are you ready to ascend to the tallest peak in São Paulo? We'll kick off our adventure by gathering at Rua Oscar Freire, number 2500, where our journey to Jaraguá State Park, a remarkable natural treasure of the city, will commence. Let’s begin!

Upon arriving at the trailhead, our 1.86-mile (3-kilometer) hike will start in earnest. Prepare to trek uphill as we follow the Trilha do Pai Zé (Pai Zé Trail), a captivating route that weaves through both the Atlantic and Cerrado ecosystems.

As we proceed, the towering trees will cast enchanting patterns of light and shadow around us. We’ll share insights about the local wildlife while explaining how this area thrives with greenery, despite being close to urban life. Soon enough, we will arrive at the historical abode of Alfonso Sardinha, where we will pause to delve into his past as a slave trader in the colonial period.

Our trek culminates at the breathtaking Pico do Jaraguá, where panoramic vistas await, rewarding our efforts. While soaking in the spectacular skyline of the city alongside the Serra da Canteira, you’ll be provided with a sandwich and water to refuel. You've earned it!

After relishing this remarkable journey, we will return to where we began, concluding our 6-hour adventure with fond farewells.
