São Joaquim Bike Tour

We will gather at the designated hour at Praça João Ribeiro, situated in the heart of São Joaquim. From this central location, we will embark on a 7 km (4.3 mi) cycling journey to uncover the iconic landmarks of the region in the state of Santa Catarina.

Our initial destination on this cycling excursion will be the Igreja Matriz, the main church of São Joaquim. Here, the impressive façade constructed from basalt stone will surely catch your attention. Next, we will proceed to the Monument to Manoel Joaquim Pinto, where a wealth of fascinating stories about the city's economic development awaits you.

As we continue our route, we'll pass through Praça Cesário Amarante and Praça João Ribeiro, notable for their winter landscapes where trees frost over, a rare sight in one of Brazil's coldest cities.

Our cycling path will also lead us to the historic center of São Joaquim and the Municipal History Museum, an excellent venue to delve into the city’s rich history shaped by its settlers, the tradition of tropeirismo, and the timber cycle in Brazil.

A noteworthy highlight of this tour includes a visit to the Mirante dos Pinheiros, a viewpoint on the outskirts known for its towering araucarias that can grow to an impressive height of 50 meters (164 feet). Here, we will pause to enjoy the stunning scenery and take a moment to recharge with water and apple chips.

After approximately three hours of exploration, we will return to our starting point to wrap up the tour.
