Your journey begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Saly, followed by a drive to the expansive Bandia Nature Reserve. Within this untouched natural area, you’ll encounter lush forests and a range of unique wildlife that thrives in the African Savannah.

During the trip, we will pass impressive baobab trees, endemic to this region. Your guide will share insights into the cultural significance of these trees to the Senegalese community and their traditional uses as burial sites.

As we traverse the reserve in our off-road vehicle, prepare to meet a diverse array of species such as birds, giraffes, buffalo, zebras, rhinos, monkeys, ostriches, and hyenas. Ensure you have your camera ready to immortalize these extraordinary moments.

Upon concluding the safari, we will depart Bandia and head northward along the Senegalese coast to reach Lac Rose (Pink Lake). Once we arrive, you will have some free time to enjoy a meal at one of the local eateries at your own pace.

Following this, we will reboard the 4x4 for a guided tour of the lake and its vast sand dunes. Your guide will explain the phenomena that led to the lake's vibrant hue, which inspired its name. If time permits, you can take a delightful soak in the lake's salty waters.

We will conclude our day by returning to Saly around 6 pm.

Swimming in Lac Rose

The opportunity to swim in Lac Rose will be available if our schedule allows. If time permits, you can look forward to a 15-minute opportunity to relish the beautiful pink waters.

It is important to note that due to significant rainfall in the summer of 2024, the lake has experienced a rise in water levels, resulting in a loss of its distinctive color. While salt extraction activities and tours have resumed, the lake has not yet regained its pink hue, and we cannot predict when it will return.
