Description

At the scheduled time, we will pick you up from your accommodation in Neiva. Our journey to the Tatacoa Desert will take slightly over an hour.

Before arriving at the desert, a stop will be made in the quaint town of Villavieja, where you can savor a fresh Colombian coffee and enjoy a brief boat ride on the Magdalena River, providing a chance to observe local wildlife. Following this, a guided tour will introduce you to the charming streets and the Paleontological Museum.

Then, we will delve into the heart of the desert itself. You will have the opportunity to traverse the stunning orange-hued landscape, where resilient cactuses thrive in such dry conditions. Key highlights of our hike will include the Valley of the Ghosts, Valley of the Xilopalos, and the Strait of the Señoritas.

During our adventure, we will also enjoy a refreshing swim in a pool nestled within the desert, fed by local spring water. After this, we will savor a delicious meal of Colombian cuisine to recharge our energy.

In the afternoon, we’ll explore the Cuzco Labyrinth, where towering mud formations reaching up to 20 meters (65 feet) create a fascinating maze. We will wander through this extraordinary terrain until the late afternoon, concluding our exploration with a beautiful sunset.

As night falls, we’ll proceed to the Astronomical Observatory to gaze at the stars, planets, and constellations set against a crystal-clear sky. Accompanied by knowledgeable astronomers, we will deepen our appreciation of the celestial wonders and enrich our stargazing experience.

To conclude the day, we will return you to your hotel in Neiva, wrapping up your 13-hour journey.
