The fortifications of Aigues-Mortes extend over 5,300 feet (1,634 metres) of robust stone walls and include twenty towers, among which the Tour de Saint Louise and the Tour de Constance stand out as noteworthy sites. These towers have a profound history, having functioned as prisons for French Protestants during the 17th century.
Opening Hours
The fortress welcomes visitors daily during the following times:
- From May 2 to August 31: 10 am to 7 pm
- From September 1 to April 30: 10 am to 5:30 pm. During this time, access to the Tour de Constance or the ramparts will be available from 4:30 pm onward, based on your choice.
Please note that the last entry permitted is 45 minutes prior to closing.
The ticket office hours are from 10 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 4:45 pm.
Keep in mind that these times may vary and are subject to change.
Special Dates
On December 24 and 31, the site will close early, at 2:30 pm.
Complimentary Admission
Entry to the Medieval towers and ramparts of Aigues-Mortes is complimentary for the following groups:
- Young individuals from the European Union aged 18 to 25 years
- Children under 18 years, irrespective of their nationality
Additionally, access is free for all on the first Sunday of each month from January to March and from November to December. Free entry is also available on the third weekend of September.
To obtain the complimentary admission mentioned above, you must visit the ticket office on-site and present a valid document proving your eligibility for a free entry.

Opening Times
The fortress of Aigues-Mortes is open daily at the following times:
- From May 2 to August 31: 10 am to 7:00 pm
- From September 1 to April 30: 10 am to 5:30 pm. During this period, from 4:30 pm, you can visit the Tour de Constance or the walls, depending on your preference
The final admission allowed is 45 minutes before closing time.
Ticket office times are from 10 am to 1:00 pm and from 2 pm to 4:45 pm.

In order to acquire the free admission mentioned above, you'll have to go to the site’s ticket office and present a certifying document of your eligibility for a free ticket.
