Anchorage Tour
Description
Discover Alaska's largest city through an engaging tour of Anchorage, immersing yourself in the lifestyle depicted in Alaska: The Last Frontier.
Description
At the designated time, your adventure begins with a pick-up from your Anchorage hotel. From there, you will board a comfortable minibus and set off to explore one of the most significant cities in Alaska: Anchorage.
We will kick off our journey by exploring the most notable landmarks in the city, strolling along the renowned 4th and 5th avenues. These streets were the foundation of Anchorage's original settlement. During our walk, we'll delve into the rich history of the area and discuss the unique lifestyle of its residents, particularly during the winter months.
Next, we will visit Ship Creek. Here, you will learn about the vital role of fishing for the local community, and we will explore the five species of salmon that inhabit these waters. Following this, we'll proceed to Lake Hood, where you can enjoy the sight of impressive seaplanes gliding over the lake. If fortune smiles upon us, we might witness one taking off or landing!
Our journey continues at Earthquake Park, a 134-acre area nestled in the forest, which was once the site where an entire neighborhood was swallowed by the ocean during a devastating earthquake in 1964. We will also pause outside a U.S. military base to discuss the strategic significance of Alaska throughout its history.
As we progress to Point Woronzof, you will have the opportunity to soak in the breathtaking views from the lookout point. On a clear day, the majestic Denali, towering at 6190 meters (20,308 ft.), becomes visible, standing as the tallest peak in North America. After enjoying these vistas, we’ll head to Kincaid Park in search of wild moose in their natural environment.
In conclusion, we will return to your hotels after spending approximately 1.5 to 2 hours together.
