Torcal de Antequera Hiking Trip

Explore the breathtaking Torcal de Antequera, renowned as one of the most stunning natural parks in Andalusia and a remarkable karst formation in Europe, through this guided hiking experience.

Activity Details

We will convene at the scheduled time in the Torcal Alto parking area. From this point, our adventure begins as we embark on a remarkable hiking trail within the Torcal de Antequera. Let’s get started!

Upon arrival, we’ll kick off our hiking journey amidst a sea of stone, navigating through towering labyrinths, corridors, and figures that appear as if crafted by imaginative artists. In reality, these rocky formations were shaped by the sea itself. Did you know that during the Jurassic period, the ancient Mediterranean Sea flowed through this region?

We will begin by traversing a circular trail, surrounded by limestone shapes that evoke images of castles, animals, or colossal faces. With each twist along the path, we’ll encounter new silhouettes: the screw, the hat, the dice, the binoculars... What other intriguing shapes will we discover?

As we make our way, insights into how the sea, wind, and rain have sculpted these stones over eons will be shared. We’ll also identify marine fossils embedded in the rocks, remnants of that distant era.

Accompanying us will be the rich wildlife of this environment. Mountain goats can be seen navigating between the cliffs, while griffon vultures soar overhead, and wild orchids blossom from crevices. We’ll pause at various points to enjoy the stunning views of the Vega de Antequera stretching out before us.

The hiking excursion through the Torcal de Antequera will conclude back at our starting point after two enriching hours.
