Details of the White Water Rafting Adventure

We’ll begin by picking you up from your hotel in Arenal for a scenic 50-minute drive to the starting point of our white water rafting excursion. This stunning natural setting has served as a transportation route since pre-Columbian times, providing the perfect backdrop for our rafting journey.

After receiving a comprehensive safety briefing from our seasoned guides, it’s time to hop onto our rafts and embark on an adventurous experience navigating through the exhilarating white waters. We will face class II and III rapids such as "Superman," "Ay Caramba," and "Confusion," among others, offering excitement for both novices and experienced rafters alike!

The duration of the rafting journey will range from 90 minutes to 2 hours, adjusting according to the daily river conditions. As we surge through the Costa Rican jungle, take in the breathtaking gorges, canyons, and waterfalls lining the Sarapiqui or Balsa River, while enjoying the refreshing mist of water on your face.

If fortune smiles upon us, we may be lucky enough to spot some native wildlife such as monkeys, toucans, and other tropical species, enriching our afternoon with the wild essence of Costa Rica!

Once our rafting adventure concludes, we’ll return to solid ground, where you can enjoy a cold beer or juice before we transport you back to your hotels. Following a fun-filled day, expect to return to your Arenal accommodation approximately four and a half hours after the initial pickup.

Rafting for Experienced Adventurers

If you consider yourself an experienced rafter, we recommend opting for the advanced-level activity, which includes thrilling class III and IV rapids. Prepare yourself for an exhilarating experience!

Itinerary for the Activity

• Rafting for Beginners: begins at 10:30 am and wraps up at 3 pm. This session will take place on the Sarapiqui River or Balsa River, subject to availability and seasonal conditions.
• Advanced Rafting: starts at 10:30 am and concludes at 6:30 pm, exclusive to the Sarapiqui River.

Hotel Pickup Information

The tour includes transportation to and from the primary hotels in La Fortuna. For those staying outside this area, there will be an extra fee based on your location, which is payable on the day of the activity:

• Zone 2: Arenal Lodge, Lost Iguana, New Moon, Chachagua Forest, Chachagua Rainforest, and Tilajari, with a US$45.20 supplement each way.
• Zone 3: Leaves and Lizards, La Mansión, El Castillo, Observatory Lodge, Rancho Margot, and Lands in Love, with a US$56.50 supplement each way.
• Zone 4: Nueva Arenal Hotels, Termales el Bosque, El Tucano, for a US$79.10 supplement each way.
