Tour Details
Our adventure kicks off outside of Qiaowan Station, setting the stage for this complimentary tour of traditional Beijing. Are you ready to uncover the most genuine facets of the city?
Our initial destination will be the Caochang Hutong Cluster, renowned as one of the best-preserved hutong complexes in the area. Amid stone carvings and ancient inscriptions, we will delve into the daily lives that have unfolded in these narrow alleys since the 13th century.
Next, we will progress to Leiyinchan Temple, a concealed gem nestled within a residential neighborhood. This temple transitioned into communal housing during the second half of the 20th century, evolving into a silent observer of the transformations that have shaped life in the hutongs. You will appreciate the way this location mirrors Beijing's historical journey!
Following this, we will visit venerable guild halls, which once served as gathering spaces for merchants and artisans. The walls here resonate with tales of agreements, celebrations, and shared whispers. Furthermore, we will discuss how Peking opera, with its vibrant costumes and symbolic movements, has managed to preserve the spirit of traditional performance art into the present day.
Continuing on our walking expedition, we will arrive at Sanlihe Park, a serene path beside the river flowing through the city. Amidst trees and historic homes, we will discover a tranquil oasis, a perfect spot for relaxation.
Our journey will then take us to Xianyukou, one of Beijing’s most vibrant eating streets. Once a bustling market, it now continues to present opportunities to savor the most authentic tastes of local gastronomy.
Finally, we will take a short walk further to reach Qianmen Street, concluding our tour after approximately 2 hours.
