Hiking Through Buraco das Araras

We'll convene at the designated point along the BR-267 roadway, specifically at the junction leading to the remarkable site of Buraco das Araras. Prepare to explore one of the most extraordinary locations near Bonito!

Upon arrival, our hike will commence, guiding us to the remarkable 127-meter-deep sinkhole (approximately 416 feet), recognized as the largest in Latin America. Throughout our journey, we'll delve into the formation of this natural reserve while appreciating the captivating sandstone formations.

Our trek will feature several breaks at various viewpoints, allowing us to witness not only the area's geological wonders but also the numerous avian species that make this region their habitat. The term Buraco das Araras translates to Macaw Hole, aptly named as we might spot these vibrant birds soaring nearby, showcasing their distinctive and vivid red feathers.

With the assistance of our guide, we will uncover the intriguing aspects of the Buraco das Araras ecosystem, including its rich flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for caimans gracefully gliding through the lagoon nestled at the bottom of the cliff.

After an engaging hour of exploration, we will conclude our visit back at the starting location.
