Aboard this immersive exploration of the São Mateus cave, participants will encounter remarkable geological structures and captivating tales. Strolling through a realm of stalactites and stalagmites, we will also visit a museum dedicated to the Kadiwéu indigenous tribe.

Exploration of the São Mateus Cave

We'll gather at the entrance of the São Mateus cave, situated 3.5 km (2.2 miles) away from Bonito's city center at the designated time.

Before entering the cave, our journey will commence with a visit to the Museum of Cultural History. This exhibit features artifacts belonging to Bonito’s ancient residents, known as the Kadiwéu. Attendees will learn intriguing facts about these Brazilian indigenous groups and gain insight into the local flora and fauna of the Mato Grosso do Sul region.

Following the museum visit, a brief walk will lead us to the entry point of the São Mateus grotto. Its expansive beauty and grandeur will captivate you instantly. As we traverse its interior, we will admire the various rock formations and uncover how they have formed over millennia, including a stalagmite reminiscent of the Tower of Pisa.

After an engaging 1.5-hour excursion through the cave, we will return to the starting point to conclude our adventure.

• Tour without pickup: Here, we will convene at the entrance to the Gruta Catedral.
• Tour with pickup: Opting for this choice means we will collect you from your hotel in Bonito. This tour spans 5 hours.
