Bucaramanga Free Walking Tour
Description
Join us to explore the enchanting city of Bucaramanga in this complimentary guided tour. We will meander through the historic downtown area and uncover its rich architectural heritage.
Tour Overview
Our journey will commence at the agreed time in the Parque Santander, the beating heart of the city. Are you prepared to delve into the charm of Santander's capital?
The first stop will be the Club del Comercio, once a hub for the elite, which continues to symbolize the elegance of yesteryear. Nearby, the grandeur of the Catedral de la Sagrada Familia awaits, a pivotal establishment that has influenced the region's religious and cultural narrative.
Within walking distance, we'll encounter the Hotel Bucarica, which serves an academic purpose today while honoring its historical significance. The excursion will then take us to Berna bakery, a staple of local cuisine celebrated for its exquisite pastries that embody Bucaramanga's delectable traditions.
Continuing our exploration, we will traverse the Calle de los Bancos, home to the city’s principal financial institutions. Here, we’ll pause at a local juice stall to sample typical delights such as cocota, sour sop, and pineapple.
Next, we will venture into the Paseo del Comercio, recognized as one of the city's oldest shopping passages, where a traditional shop offers a taste of local customs and flavors.
Our path will then lead us across the Metrolínea pedestrian bridge on Diagonal 15, where we’ll discuss the functioning of the local public transport system. We’ll make a brief stop at a local bakery to enjoy their signature treat, the Mestiza. Our next destination will be Pasaje de Edecanes, where a café serves one of the top five coffees worldwide.
The tour will also take us past the Casa de Bolívar, the Casa Luis Perú de la Croix, and the historic church of San Laureano, one of the city’s oldest sanctuaries.
To conclude, we will walk through García Rovira Park, the location of both the City Hall and the Governor's Office. This engaging journey will last between 2.5 and 3 hours, culminating at the Plaza Cívica Luis Carlos Galán.
