Covadonga Lakes Day Trip
Description
Enchanting vistas and rich heritage take prominence during this day excursion from Cangas de Onís. We will explore the magnificent Covadonga Lakes, alongside the Basilica and the Sanctuary, which houses La Santina. A quintessential route in Asturias!
Details of the Day Trip
We will commence our journey by convening at the bus station in Cangas de Onís, marking the start of our adventure toward Covadonga. Prepare for an experience to remember!
Our journey continues into the stunning landscapes of Picos de Europa National Park, home to one of the most captivating natural attractions in Asturias: the Covadonga Lakes.
Our first destination will be the Entrelagos viewpoint, an ideal place to immerse ourselves in the breathtaking scenic views of Lakes Enol and Ercina, while discovering their glacial origins.
Following that, we will visit the Basilica of Santa María la Real de Covadonga. Nearby this remarkable neo-Romanesque edifice, constructed between 1877 and 1901, we will delve into the intriguing narrative of Don Pelayo and the Spanish Reconquest.
We will also explore the Sanctuary of Covadonga, where the revered cave housing the Virgin of Covadonga, widely known as La Santina, resides. Additionally, we will view the Royal Pantheon, the final resting place of Don Pelayo.
Ultimately, we will retrace our steps back to Cangas, concluding this rewarding day trip after approximately 4.5 to 5 hours.

The gathering location will be specified at one of the bus bays at the Cangas de Onís bus station. This meeting point might vary and will be confirmed on the day of the trip. During the booking process, we will provide guidance on identifying the bus when arriving at the station.
