At the designated time, we'll gather at either your accommodation or at 101st Street in La Boquilla. Our journey begins as we make our way towards the coastline, where we will board a canoe and navigate into the mangrove forests.

This region is renowned for its traditional approaches to fishing. During the activity, you'll learn to utilize conventional fishing tools, including nets, pots, and ropes. Local experts will guide us in using specialized equipment like the trammel net.

As we glide through the mangroves, fascinating insights into this distinct ecosystem will be shared. We'll arrive at the Ciénega de la Virgen, a vibrant lagoon teeming with wildlife, where you’ll have the opportunity to catch crabs using a net.

Alongside crab fishing, expect to encounter various indigenous species such as sea bass, shad, and mojarra, plus marine creatures like sea snails, shrimp, and lobsters. If you wish, we can pause on a small island nearby, where you can meet a Colombian raccoon or explore a fish farm.

Once we've finished gathering our catch, we'll return to the shore to enjoy a satisfying meal featuring crabs, fish, rice, and fried plantains. A refreshing drink will complement our lunch—cheers!

The crab fishing excursion in Cartagena’s mangroves will conclude after approximately four to five hours.

Pickup from Your Hotel

When reserving, you can opt for hotel pickup if your accommodation is located in any of the following areas in Cartagena de Indias: Laguito, Bocagrande, Historic Center, Getsemaní, Los Morros, Crespo, and Manga. For those outside these zones, our meeting point will be at Alfredo Restaurant.
